Fully Automated Packaging Line for Fast and Accurate Packaging of Blasting Sand at Steinweg

Case

Steinweg is a logistics company with locations in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. They package a variety of materials for third parties. For their Dutch site in Moerdijk, they were looking for a fully automated packaging line to package blasting sand. The previous installation was a semi-automatic line but the fully automated alternative would be quicker and more accurate. This line had to be able to package at least 650 bags per hour. The designated location for this line was rather modest: the bagging installations needed to be integrated into an existing structure consisting of several mobile container units. In other words, we built the bagging machines inside those containers, tailoring them partly to the specific dimensions at hand.

From start to finish: every action of the blasting sand packaging line is completely automatic. Two Technipes Tecno FF bagging machines package the blasting sand into 25-kg paper valve bags, which are then automatically introduced into the line. Next, the bags are removed from the conveyor belt and automatically tightly palletised by a fast Winner 800 robot. The supply of empty pallets is also completely automated. There’s even the option to add a cardboard sheet on top and between the layers of the pallet. A TOSA 090-455 fully automatic pallet wrapping machine ensures tight wrapping of the fully stacked pallet, while placing a top sheet on the pallet if needed. This way, the pallets are wrapped water-tight and ready to be shipped to the end customer.
